Disk Cleanup – for PC

The Disk Cleanup tool for Windows can help with many otherwise unfixable fixes.

The tool performs a search on the hard disk for files that can be deleted from your computer without affecting its functionality or your personal files. One set of those files are the Windows update “temp” files that download when Windows updates. Every now and then, one of these updates gets corrupt, and subsequent updates are unable to install.

Running the tool allows your computer to “reset” the update schedule, and continues keeping your computer up to date.

In Windows

  1. Click Start
  2. Type Disk Cleanup and click the application
  3. Click Clean up system files.
  4. Select all of the check-boxes
  5. Click Delete Files
  6. Shut down the computer, wait 60 seconds, and boot the machine back up
  7. Click Start
  8. Type Check for Updates
  9. Run the update tool and install any applicable updates
